Eyeliners have always been a problem for me. No matter what I tried it always seems to smudge to a certain extent because my fold is always rubbing against the skin where I draw my liner. Even MAC's Fluidline, which I had high hopes for because of all the rave still smudges near the corners of my eyes where I like to make my cat eye flick. The only eyeliner that I have found success with is with Asian branded liquid eyeliners, but they are still quite prone to any kind of moisture. The fact is, I wear hard (Rigid Gas Permeable) contacts, which is very vulnerable to dust, eyelash, or makeup fall out of any kind. Once something gets into my eye while I am wearing my contacts, my eyes instantly start to water to the point where I look like I am crying. The real pain however, is when I am wearing makeup. Because I am constantly trying to massage the skin around my eyelids to relieve the pain until whatever is in my eye is gone, my makeup especially my eyeliner tends to rub off. Therefore, I end up with one eye with eyeliner while the other eye is bare. Wearing liquid eyeliner does not help either as most of the time, its completely gone. As a result, liquid is still not a perfect solution for me. Only gel eyeliner manages to stay on for the most part, but even MAC's Fluidline still smudges on me. I thought I would never be able to find a good gel eyeliner. However, my prayers have finally been answered!
So what is the amazing product? It's Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner, of course!

Review: Like it says in the name, this eyeliner is long wearing. From the moment I put it on til the moment I take it off, it is still as vibrant as it was 8 hours ago. It is the only gel eyeliner that I have come across that does not smudge on me at all. I've tried MAC's Fluidline and the L'oreal H.I.P. Liners and they cannot compare. The formula for Bobbi Brown's is very soft and creamy and glides on effortlessly. The color is also very pigmented. I have this in Chocolate Shimmer Ink so it's not the black one that most people are probably interested in. However, I've found this shade is perfect for summer as it's not as harsh as black can sometimes be, but it still provides are very beautiful dark line. It almost looks black from far away. The shimmers are very understated. Once it's on the eyes, unless someone purposely looks for the shimmer, you can't really tell it's there at all. I really love this color and I advise anyone to pick this up this shade or this gel eyeliner is general. The only bad thing I don't like about this liner is that it's one of the more pricier eyeliners in the market; however, if you wait for a sale you can probably snatch this baby up for a cheaper price.

ReplyDeleteFluidline tends to smudge on me on hotter days. I'm tempted to try this one out! Is it hard to remove?
ReplyDeleteC. - I have the gray stila smudgepot I got awhile back from a set but I have yet to test it out properly. I will test that out soon as well :)
ReplyDeleteMarie - You should definitely give it a try. It's not hard to remove at all. It slides right off :)
OooOo nice review! i prefer liquid liners over any other types because they do not smudge at all =)
ReplyDeleteI tagged you here =D
ReplyDeleteomgomg i have the exact same eyeliner problems! when i open my eyes, my lids fold right over where the eyeliner is so it never lasts, and then it falls in my eyes (i wear contacts too) and they get all watery and it's a vicious cycle. T_T
